Old Timers Citywide Reunion Street Hockey Tournament
We have been approached by a West Roxbury group to try and organize a reunion type street hockey tournament for all you senior old timer former street hockey players. This would be sometime in fall 2008 or spring 2009. There will be games and a gathering afterwards. The goal will be to raise money for some charity or non profit agency. The game might look like "slow mo football" that we used to play, considering our present senior ages. We need one person from each "corner" or park or hangout ( did we use the word "gangs" back then ?? ) as a point person in the various neighborhoods of the city to organize a team and spread the word. Do you have any ideas or suggestions about running this ? Times, locations, tennis ball vs plastic orange puck, check vs no check, slapshots ok, two shoes or sneakers or rocks or cones or real nets for goals, schoolyard, tennis court or in a "modern" street hockey rink (They did not have these way back when, in the 60's and 70's ), where to gather Are their any old timer goalies left that can still goal tend or even kneel quickly ?
